Thought I'd make a post about these extraordinary kids... Below is a link to their MySpace site, and I recommend that you scroll down to the video clips... I saw that gig, the girl playing the bass is the daughter of a friend of mine... The girl is a fan of Kate, but that's beside the point... These kids are 15 years old, anyone else think they might have a future in music?... Turn up the volume, somehow the recording level...

Barry De Souza

I was reading last week in one of the monthly music mags ( Q, Record Collector....not sure which one now) that session drummer Barry De Souza passed away last March.
In June 1975, Barry was the drummer on Kate's 'Saxophone Song' track.

Unfortunately I can't find any confirmation of his death from any internet source.....has anyone got any info?

The extraordinary dancer/choreographer Pina Bausch died yesterday, aged 68.

I have been lucky enough to meet her, middle '80s, in the making of my graduation thesis.
Her physical presence was powerful and yet fragile. The way she liked to see things from different perspectives in her work, has been highly influential for many contemporary artists who shared her vision, including Kate I am sure.

I like to think she is an important part of the universal choreography...

It's as much a surpirse to me as I guess it may be to many of you, but I LOVE this track! It's got that mad kind of feel to it (the clue is in the title I suppose) but what a great, fun dance-rap blend! It could well be my song of the summer. I know virtuially nothing about 'Mr' Rascal, except from that great Jeremy Paxman interview which was just gripping telly, but I do like this a lot.

During the BBC4 programme 'Crude Britannia', about the UK oil industry in the 80s, snatches from Hello Earth (the male chorus bit) and Under Ice were played. Other songs from various 80s artists were featured, but all seemed to be recognisable chart hits, so I assume whoever was in charge of the music for this interesting programme is a Kate fan as these are pieces you wouldn't normally have heard on the radio in those days.

Anyone around here remember them? Sadly enough I was barely breathing when they were around. Really like what I've heard, (well it is basically just The Eurythmics but with Terry Hall on vocals), but wouldn't know where to start in finding the album. I'm not sure it's even in print.

I have to say, although it's shocking about the loss of MJ, I am more saddened by the news of loosing one of the (for me) most gorgeous 'angels'. I loved Charlie's Angels in the 70's and Farrah was my fav next to Jaclyn Smith. I remember buying a full length poster of Farrah and proudly displaying it on my bedroom wall next to my other full length poster of Debbie Harry.
