There was a mistake in an earlier post. Amy Winehouse has released TWO excellent albums. J

boswellia wrote:It definitely has the potential of a slanging match...which is great. I think some posts where everyone lists their likes can be a bit boring. It's just coming from another angle and seeing what bands really annoy Kate fans Ive found it quite entertaining and interesting to see people with a love of Kate also have no idea why some bands make it big. I suppose the aim wasn't to have a huge slagfest but to name artists that shouldn't get the fame and adoration that they do get. Sometimes I'm baffled by the sheer lack of talent that hogs the airwaves |

I see your point. But were not going to buy any cds or listen to them more whilst we slag them off on here. Its a way of getting to know peoples likes and
dislikes.
I rarely post on the actual sections for Kates music because I know that everyone loves her work. So no point reading through things I already know. Its nice to get to know people who, say, for me, love Kate, Interpol, The Chameleons, Depeche etc etc and don't get Franz Ferdinand, Oasis etc and hate a lot of similar artists. |

Oh my I could go on all day! But I'll cut it down to a top 8:
01. The Beatles - Never understood the hype and if you ask me, The Rolling Stones have always been much better anyway. Now John Lennon solo, that I do like. So I blame it on Paul McCartney 02. All R&B "artists" of today. When it still stood for Rhythm & Blues it was great (Little Richard, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis et al.) but today it just sounds like people with stomach and/or menstrual cramps. What the hell is that about? 03. Madonna. I stopped being a fan after the first concert I saw on TV (I was to young to actually pay and go to the actual show). She can't sing to save her life. I blame the whole bubblegum pop generation on her as she was the first to prove that being talentless doesn't mean people won't buy your records. I'll never forgive her for that. 04. Cher - I can understand people were too stoned to notice she can't sing in the 60s (and granted, Sonny made up for a LOT) but people should have noticed by now?? 05. Celine Dion - Am I the only one who notices the wolfey howls in English and that she's a million times better when she sings in French (both lyrically and vocally)? 06. Shania Twain - Thankfully safely locked away in Las Vegas now. Maybe it's because I totally hate country music but I never quite understood why people ever liked to listen to that whiney voice in the first place. Even though I'm no fan of her either, but Dolly Parton is better! 07. Jefferson Airplane. The original versions of White Rabbit and Somebody To Love by The Great Society were much better. But maybe I need to try to listen to it after smoking some pot to 'get' it 08. Boy/Girl bands - Just never understood the hype around these either. Just a bunch of nice faces, no talent. Bring back the talented musicians! Why cares if they're ugly? Just look at The Rolling Stones, they're still popular after 60 years Aevericka BirgitteSC.com Birgitte's Kate Bush Page "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. Shania Twain just might be an example of something I think maybe I see elsewhere from time to time. (Sorry if the phrasing sounds weaseley, but after all, who
can know about people's inner motivations?) I wonder if a lot of people just like the idea of Shania Twain. An
artist who is not like the other C&W artists-romantically involved with a guy from AC/DC for chrissakes, and of Native American origins. And with a musical
style just a little different, but not enough to completely put her off the C&W map. I personally find it a bit disappointment when the reality doesn't
live up to the concept, but sometimes I suppose the fantasy persists even in the face of the reality-with others and, no doubt with me as well.

Don't know a thing about her, except I think once about five years ago I downloaded something by her, and didn't find it interesting, and don't
remember a thing about it.
I do sympathize with her about her name, though. Not one weird name, but a whole string. Fine to have one exotic middle name, but for everyday use, best to name the kid something fairly common. Unless you're a thoroughgoing sadist. |

U2- just annoying and undeserving of success on so many levels. Also the idea of a phoney tax dodging millionaire rock star with no policies or workable ideas
of his own lecturing democraticly elected politicans "to give more money" is just ridiculous
bands like Elbow/Doves- so devoid of any personality or purpose that you can't tell them apart. |

Somehow, she just doesn't seem like the type of "artist", er, singer, that I would like but I actually really enjoy listening to her music when it comes on the radio. Some of her videos are quite good too. Could never consider myself a "Pink Fan", I don't think... or could I? As for Bono, argh, it's like he's still playing "The Fly" all these years later.
