It's a bit outdated - history researchers have gone far further than he did in the thirties. But I keep it, not only because the sleeves are beautiful, but also because it partly introduced me to my passion for history when I was a teenager. In front of the "History of Civilization" you can see on the shelves a copper sextant offered by a beloved friend of mine. On the lower shelves, between my hand and the candelabra, you can see "Treasures of Britain", a book I found in a book fair in Canterbury years ago, some kind of old-fashionned and classy tourist guide of the seventies. I love its old-fashionned flavours and also the maps of archaeologic sites and medieval places in it. Next to it are two volumes entitled "Arts of China" and "History of China". The sleeves of these two volumes features engravings of Trigrams and Yin Yang symbols, it's very nice to touch it. And the pages smells very good. The candelabra was found by my wife in a vintage shop in our neighborhood in Brussels.
