Do you mean Kate actually did several different versions of the album. My oh my this is something I would like to listen. I think I am going to befriend you -
and I don't even put tea in my milk because I was introduced to tea by Tuareg, a pretty pedantic comment I made just to puzzle you on how this wonderful
man has been in contact with members of the Tuareg community and I'm sure you find me very sexy now.
If not, I wouldn't be into you anyway. |

'She's very wonderful...'
Well, yes, actually, she is. I thought the pianist did a marvellous job (surely it's a difficult piece to play and he had one hell of a distraction....!), but I was less convinced by the orchestral backing, too many deep woodwinds and not enough subtle viola strings, flute and oboe, but for a live performance by some session musicians unfamiliar with her work, it's pretty damn good. I'm sticking with the single cut, even if I don't own a copy of it (damn, damn!) And I've not managed to mention her once. Can I say anything that hasn't been said by thousands on these boards before, except what a beautiful human being - the word sublime was never so well chosen. Am I alone in finding her performances so moving that I can honestly say I find nothing sexual in them at all? It is 10,000x purer than that - just ravishing beauty on so many aural, visual, intellectual, emotional and even spiritual levels that leaves me having to remember how to breathe all over again.... And USA didn't fall completely and madly in love with her after that? Well, I wash my hands of them then - and just when I was just beginning to like them again. |

Sorry 'Looking at Blue', in all the excitement I forgot to say, thank you, thank you, thank you.
And I think I'll be kept busy with that incredible post that you identified - you are such marvellous people. Why can't I work with people like you? |

You could be working with us, indeed, yes, yes, you could. If your start a business we could all be working with you. That would be great. Wouldn't it be ?
I think it would be.
The video is über-great, yes it is, yes, yes. I don't know why but I think it's one of these videos in which you can feel how hard she has been working for years before reaching this talent. |

whitehorsehill wrote:You mean that the "aural, visual, intellectual, emotional and even spiritual levels" that you're on about are somehow more 'worthy' than finding and enjoying a sexual element in the music/performances? Sex is as much a motivator and as strong an expression as all these other so-called 'higher' human manifestations. Sex is not pure? May I suggest for your listening pleasure songs such as Feel It, The Sensual World and The Song of Solomon, to name but three? I was in this prematurely air-conditioned supermarket and there were all these aisles and
there were these bathing caps that you could buy

OK fair enough - seeing a new performance of TMWTCIHE probably damaged my ability to express myself.
If I used the word 'pure', it probably reveals a northern English upbringing which was influenced by a protestant nonconformist attitude towards displays of sexuality. I don't think it was the right word - sublime, mesmeric, transcendent would all have been much better words to choose. KT is far better at expressing an honest and measured attitude towards sex than anyone else (though usually through a character in a song) which is why she's a great artist and I'm not. While I'm sure many people on this board feel (quite justifiably) unashamed of expressions of sexual feelings towards KT's physical appearance, I find that reactions to her art that begin and end with a sexual response to be fairly inadequate. Sex can be pure, but personally I'm not convinced that getting sexual satisfaction from staring at images on a screen is. Equally though, sex can be debasing, degrading and down-right demeaning - just as almost any human activity can be. I know that many people look at KT's videos (or even hear her music) and go 'cor, I wouldn't mind waking up next to that...', but for some reason that simply doesn't occur to me. I'm just hypnotised by her in a way that no other popular artist can manage. I find her performances no more sexually arousing than I would listening to great music, reading a good novel or walking in beautiful countryside. If that all makes me deeply repressed, well, ya-boo-sucks to Dr Freud, 'cos then I'm repressed and happy and you don't need therapy if you're happy. |

Oh bugger, I've just got the CD with the 'Live on Stage' tracks on it. And the version of 'L'Amour...' knocks the spots off the album
version - fantastic vocalising from KT with such subtlety that I'm a bit suspicious that this isn't entirely 'live'. But it means I've got
to amend my original list
Just when you thought you'd heard everything, something else comes along.... But at least this means that I've now got alternative (and half decent) versions of everything on the album....anybody got any decent live versions of 'Peter Pan', 'Fullhouse' or 'Coffee Homeground' and then I'll have a go at the perfect 'Lionheart' (might be a bit tricky that one..!) |

This is the only known live version of "Fullhouse" from the "Kate Bush In Concert" documentary. The film also have a very short recording
of "Coffee Homeground". I don't know about any live recordings of "In Search Of Peter Pan".

OK - admission time - I've used this site (back in my lurker days) to download the Liverpool Concert - and so I've got a live version of 'Coffee
Homeground' and 'Fullhouse' but no 'Peter Pan'
So was 'Peter Pan' played on the Tour of Life or not? |

Yes, she did play "Peter Pan" but I don't know if there are any recordings of it.
