I recently bought from eBay, for £1.00 each disc, a 2-disc set containing the 1978 BBC adaptation of the book (originally given free with the Daily Mail newspaper), and it was superb. The book's dialogue was followed very closely, the acting was excellent and the sets fantastic - probably the best I've seen and totally evoking the dismal and run down nature of the Heights compared to the genteel beauty of the Grange. The cast also included the best casting of Joseph ever - Brian Wilde, better known perhaps for his roles in Porridge and Last Of The Summer Wine (and of course his small but significant part in Night of the Demon). Thoroughly recommended. Be the Awen! ... / \| \

Thoroughly recommended. I just bought the bbc Bronte box set and started watching this. So far its very good. Also the production of Jane Eyre is same the same as the one I saw when doing A level English 15 years ago and it brings back many happy memories. Of the WH tv movie, which I've seen on you tube, Tom Hardy is perfect casting for Heathcliffe because he's hard as nails. Ralph Fiennes is bit too bland and wimpy.

Probably people know about this one already, but there's an ITV version of Wuthering Heights coming 'soon' http://www.itv.com/drama/perioddrama/wutheringheights/ There's a piece in The Mirror saying it will before Christmas (!) but it will be the last costume drama from ITV before widespread budget cuts kick in at ITV http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv-entertainment/tv/tv-land/2009/03/11/itv-s-wuthering-heights-will-be-shown-this-year-despite-credit-crunch-115875-21189542/ Sounds promising, the USA has already seen it in January, any feedback from that? "The more I think about sex, the better it gets...................."
