Enjoying series 2 .... didn't realise that there was going to be a third one until I read this thread ... & agree about being not sure that it would be
good idea. Sam Tyler appearing might be 'fun' but rather hard as in series I it was said that he was killed a few years before (in the Gene Hunt
timeline rather than the 2000's timeline)
I'm straight & into Kate ... so are probably next ... well I am paranoid

The second series has been so good that I am praying for a third! I want more Gene Genie! Actually, Sam Tyler died in Gene's time but his "body was
never recovered." We found that out in the first episode of series one, which leaves the door wide open for him to appear.

I loved last night's endof series episode - lots of fast action, and a great surreal feel which has been missing for much of this series. Will Alex return
to 1981? Wow, what a finale. Can hardly wait for series 3. And yes - bring back Sam Tyler!

Thought season one was poor so skipped season 2. Well, until a few days ago where I watched them all in quick succession. Thought it was brilliant, and a vast,
vast improvement. Looking forward to seeing the direction they take in season three after how the last episode ended. I've never got the moaning about
Keeley Hawes's acting though, far as I'm concerned she's really quite good, (and also if the BBC do ever feel so compelled to give us a female
Doctor, which will probably happen eventually, I think she'd be a pretty good choice, hypothetically. Well on this evidence she can do the necessary
running about whilst delivering chunky exposition).
More importantly though thank god they got rid of that $$%%!$# clown and all the moping around in S.1. Oh also did anyone see the US version of Life on Mars? I've seen what I hope was the last episode and it's almost unspeakably $+@@, the thing that sticks out being the twist ending. Not to spoil anything for anyone but they seemed to have taken the title far too literally. |

Monday night's series 2 finale was breathtaking. Loved every second of it. I've already pre-ordered the box set from Amazon.
As for the American version of Life on Mars...one of the worst pieces of shite ever put on television in any country and don't even get me started on that ending. Harvey Keitel was an interesting choice for Gene Hunt in theory, but you really just can't top Phil Glennister. He's the one and only Gene Genie.

There's definitely a third, according to BBC. Third and final where we find out "who Gene Hunt really is." Ooooh...that's got my ears perked
up.

"Executive producer Simon Crawford Collins added: "Will Alex make it back home? Why is she living in this parallel '80s world? What will become
of bullish Gene Hunt and will we ever discover what actually happened to Sam Tyler (played by John Simm in Life on Mars)? Viewers will not be left disappointed
because the series promises to finish with a bang!""
Sounds good. So should we expect Sam Tyler to appear?

Peter, I think Sam Tyler should appear. In series one, Alex was told he died in a car crash, but the body was never found. That means he's alive somewhere
for sure.
