Can I remind our smug Australian that whilst England might have lost to Holland they have since beaten Pakistan by enough runs to stay in the competition.
Austalia on the other hand were hammered by the West Indies before they as lost so Sri Lanka ... so are OUT OF THE COMPETITION.
They're going home, they're going home, Aus is going home.
I'm straight & into Kate ... so are probably next ... well I am paranoid

What matters is winning the competition ..... England can still do it (but probably wont) .... Australia certainly wont.
btw 2 days before the start of the competition England played the West Indies .... & hammered them

1) Being turned down for a job after I'd spent a full day filling in the application form
2) A 'virtual' friend being in hospital with 'swelling on the brain' ... it the drugs dont work by this evening they may have to try & drain things .... by cutting through the skull

^be glad it was only one day. I've wasted weeks putting together proposals that have been denied.
1) +$@%$%! smug/bored/self important Profs. One wouldn't let me use a piece of equipment as his technician-in-charge isn't here (all month), DESPITE the fact I am trained on it. Sad fact is for undergrad students I am teaching, they loose out in the end. He still wouldn't budge after I explained this, and also refused to get in contact with the technician to verify I am trained to use said equipment. I could take the matter further, as a snr research associate I can get permission from the Faculty to use any university owned equipment without the supervision of a technician - but then I'd have to get my boss to put in a complaint etc etc and I hate making enemies in universities. Its the quickest way to get voted off the island! ...there ain't a single night, when I haven't held you tight...

Hope things go well Rekateman. A friend of mine was moved into a hospice last week after he got a similar swelling last year - prognosis is not looking good.
There's a whole range of causes and outcomes of course, so no reason to think your friend is under any greater risk. Got to me a bit though - too many
people I know have died in the last year.

I know its the in-thing and easily done to take shots at the Daily Mail but that's just so repulsive the idea that the editor let it through as it is staggering. It's the type of class warrior, quasi-bourgoise, self-important preening cuntery that you'd think was consigned to the 80s. It's honestly beyond description and the idea to anyone that this type of thing is acceptable is mystifying. It actually feels really rather absurd to be so angry at a newspaper article actually. |

^Oh GOSH! I can't believe it either...
But when I wore them at dinner last week, no one noticed them, they were so bowled over by my other friend's lumps of canvas and cork which cost less than a bottle of wine. Obviously a fashion idiot; cork wedges? So 2005. ...there ain't a single night, when I haven't held you tight...

It's just how it basically says that cleaners are 2nd class citizens that shouldn't have the audacity to wear the same clothes as us proper folk.
The easy solution would be to designate some people as lower class lesser beings and force them to wear grey boiler suits. It'd prevent such unfortunate and humiliating mishaps at least. |

include yourself in that, Steven). It is an article about how current fashion has become so readily available to the masses, and what a horror this is for
those that take time to plan a wardrobe. Still, I don't agree with it. No one I know would be caught dead in head to toe Top-Shop or wear $10 shoes.

I was being ironic. And the fact remains article was prompted by the writer realising that someone of apparently a demonstrably lower status than herself (ie a cleaner not a professional) was, in fashion terms, her equal ('fashion communism'), which she thinks is unacceptable and prompts her rethink. Ideas of class and resulting respectability is, at least implicitly, indivisible from the rest of the article. |
