As I'm not a fan I thinks its best if I don't comment ... apart from that its very sad for his family, especially as he was only 50. My bet is that various people will see this as 'a business oportunity'. I had to look at quite a few online reports because some of the headlines used quotes "dead" and were not too clear. Hard to believe actually. Farrah Fawcett died this morning and now Michael Jackson. A talented and gifted man who ruled in the music world in better times but he led a very sad, screwed up life.

I hear he was to do 50 dates in London alone - surely too much, and it's being said he was really stressed. Couple that with his various health problems and I guess this is what did for him. I'm not a big fan, but always loved his music and felt he had a unique talent. Though there have been various controversies about his private life over the years, I am happy for him that he has gone out at a time when he was on the up again, and knew there was a lot of love for him out there. RIP Michael. Vibes in the sky invite you to dine. Re Farrah, so sad about this too though I didn't know about her passing until I read this thread. She has struggled with cancer for a long time. Like Michael her life has been ups and downs, but I get the feeling she was a gracious lady, and well loved. I am glad for her she is now free of pain. RIP Farrah. Be the Awen! ... / \| \

I was never a fan of his (quite the opposite really!) but it is sad that he has gone so young. I can understand how the stress that he has experienced over the last few years would have taken its toll in the end. Also sorry about Farrah! She was an iconic figure, due mainly to Charlies Angels! And a beautiful woman.

As usual, I take the advantage that I'm not on-air myself to take some lazy time in the bed. And they announced "Michael Jackson is dead". I immediately jumped out of the bed screaming "WHAT ?". My wife, who was still sleeping, thought it was World War III or something... What to say ? Well, Michael Jackson died, and that's how he finally took my innocence away. Re-mastering good old albums is like photoshopping Mona Lisa.

I do feel sorry for how his life developed. He had so much potential but trying to regain the childhood that he was deprived of combined with having enough money to not have to deal with reality took it's toll. Irrespective of it all he was a victim in many respects but hopefully will be remembered as a prodigious musical talent. John The Dreaming is Kate's 'Marmite' album.

Liked his music up until Invinsible; as much the work of his co-producers as Michael himself. Couldn't bear to look at the man... the promo stuff for HIStory was shockingly bad. The mix of children and militaristic iconography. Ghastly. Some great philanthropic work, marred by terrible charity business keeping. I think his talent died a long time ago, but a great legacy of music left behind. Even after all this time The sun never says to the earth, "You owe me."
