Martina McBrides "Blue Christmas" duet with Elvis Presley has received more than 200,000 hits in two weeks! I prefer the original Elvis 1957 version, but have to admit the new video is exceptionally well done. Kate Bush has a great many active fans so why oh why does her music get such little publicity between releases. Lets see more comments on Kates songs youtube....... just for a start! http://blog.goldminemag.c...tate+Put+Up+For+Sale.aspx The "Goldmine" Editor is a nice guy we have been exchanging email. I'll try a Kate Bush story with him......... any ideas?

I think a lot of music newbies (as opposed to hardcore muso' s with huge music libraries) won't likely stumble on Kate Bush via YouTube. Maybe if the videos were titled in some way to get picked up in YouTube searches (i.e., titled "Kate Bush Cloudbusting FUNNY CAT DOG TRICK" or some such. Where there's a will................. there's ..........relatives. :-) (Speaking of relatives our twin grand-daughters are in the Halle Orchestra's junior Choir) I guided Elvis Presley fans to Ludwig Van Beethoven's very beautiful music so getting more discerning listeners to appreciate Kates wonderful music means finding the child in their ears. Running Up That Hill video has 2,183,450 views. Babooshka video has 1,334,265 views. That's pretty good in my opinion.

The "Blue Christmas" by Martina Mcbride/Elvis has 300,000 hits in three weeks. Martina will be on TV talking about it in the coming weeks and that kind of publicity is sure to push the hits up. My point is Kate Bush fans could do more to raise awareness. In the old days, when I was young :-) Pop stars got very little publicity in the media but nevertheless one song heard on radio just once could have thousands of keen listeners heading for the record shop having never even seen the artist! What song of Kates is likely to instantly attract attention. Wuthering Heights we know had a very divided audience :-) Elvis's Hound Dog turned off millions! Don't be Cruel/Love Me Tender was accepted by many........ reluctantly. It's Now or Never, conquered the world. Kate doesn't court publicity nowadays and seems happy to release music with as little fanfare as possible. I was disappointed the marketing campaign for Aerial was so brief, but would four singles, countless media interviews and an appearance on Loose Women have added anything to my life besides a few hours of Kate-themed loveliness? I don't think they would have. I admire Kate's attitude towards celebrity culture and don't blame her for shying away from publicity. And the music press isn't averse to writing about La Bush it's just there's nothing new to add. If you've nothing more to say, then pray, scat!

What I like to do is introduce people to great music, from whatever source but I do have my favourite popular artists.:-) Before I ever turned my attention to classical music I knew virtually nothing about it. Yet reading the great literature of the world one cannot miss the names Bach , Mozart and Beethoven etc. Admiring certain writers for their intelligence I could not help but be influenced by their taste in music Curious I purchased my first Tchaikovsky and Chopin piano music in my early 20s circa 1964. That is all it took. We can direct people to youtube these days. Many people I guided there admired Leonard Berstein speaking about the impact Ludwig Van Beethoven had on his life. Well worth a view.
