Problem with that song (well one recording at least) is that it's not possible to work out whether Bananarama are better than Fun Boy Three or whether Fun
Boy Three are better than Bananarama.

Well I couldn't stand Michael Jackson, but I love Kate-so can't see much to compare except they both write songs and appeared on Top of the Pops!

Both have musical older brothers...
Both have released multi-song videos which are not quite videos and not quite movies... Both have had famous comedians play "dramatic" roles in their videos... Both have been vegetarians... Both became parents later in life... Both have had gaps of five or more years between album releases... The sad part is how seriously I took coming up with these points... Zeb

Michael Jackson released the song Black or White in 1991. This year the American president was George Bush.LOL in awe and admiration! Zeb |

I thought James Joyce wrote Ulysses. But I guess the connection holds.

Mondo Sinistro wrote: It's not the same Ulysses. If it was Joyce's Ulysses the connection wouldn't hold as it was published in 1922 so Harding would have been president. Tennyson's Ulysses is one of his poems. Though I can't quite think of a reference to Tennyson's Ulysses in her work, I've got a copy so I'll take a look. The obvious correction, (assuming that the Ulysses' have indeed been confused), is that Kate Bush definitely did refer to The Coming of Arthur: "Wave after wave, each mightier than the last, Till last, a ninth one, gathering half the deep And full of voices, slowly rose and plunged Roaring, and all the wave was in a flame:" But that was written in 1856 (or there abouts, haven't checked) so Pierce not Jackson would have been President. There may be other Tennyson references I'm missing I suppose.

The Jackson Five had a hit song with "ABC".
Kate released The Dreaming the same year as the debut album of ABC.

1. Michael Jackson turns into a 'cat creature' in the Thriller video - Kate is a cat lover.
2. If you say 'Michael Jackson' backwards repeatedly, it sounds uncannily like an Aboriginal chant. "The Dreaming" is about aboriginies. 3. If you sample the first "Oooh!" from Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", and sample the final "Oooh" from "Night Scented Stock" and play them both at once, you get a perfect 'diminished 13' chord. 4. If you put Jackson's line "So beat it" into 'Babel Fish' and translate it into Chinese, then Italian, then Swedish - then back into English, you get a garbled mess that if you bark it very quickly, sounds a bit like the smashing sounds on "Mother Stands For Comfort". 5. They both have a mole on their right buttocks. Kissyfoot - the world's first foot fetish rock band: http://www.myspace.com/kissyfootband

Steven, thanks for straightening me out on Tennyson/Joyce/Ulysses. Ever since they chained me to this mast, I've been a bit away from reality, you must
understand.

Michael Jackson was born August 29, 1958 - the exact same date as Lenny Henry (who sang on Kate's "Y Should I Luv
U?")
Kate was born July 30, 1958, exactly one year after Rat Scabies who was in The Damned with Captain Sensible who scored a #1 hit in the UK with "Happy Talk" from the musical South Pacific which won a Tony Award for best musical, as did The Wiz, the movie version of which starred... Michael Jackson.

Astounding!
No one's mentoned the fact that both Kate and Michael Jackson have never won the Nobel Peace Prize either! Kissyfoot - the world's first foot fetish rock band: http://www.myspace.com/kissyfootband |

Both artistes fused birdsong and bird imagery into their music and lyrics in a wonderfully evocative fahion
'Rockin' Robin, Cheep....cheepity cheep..Rockin' Robin, Cheep....cheeepity cheep' - genius. |

I think what's more interesting is the difference between Neil Armstrong and Michael Jackson.
Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, and Michael Jackson molested kids.

But there's commonality, too: Neil Armstrong and Michael Jackson both were thought to have converted to Islam--and apparently incorrectly in both cases.

I'm sure there are more things in common between Kate and Vangelis Papathanassiou.
