Archive Kate set on BBC Radio 6 Tuesday 18th March |
Lead | |
|
According to the current issue of Radio Times, there will be an archive set by Kate broadcast on the BBC Radio 6 Gideon Coe show next week. The programme starts at 10.00pm on Tuesday 18th March, and is on until 1.00am. Coe seems to broadcast archive sessions by a lot of acts, so this promises to be interesting!

Ooh - that sounds interesting. I didn't know Kate did any radio sessions - I thought I would have heard them by now.
Please can someone fill me in on this - what sessions if any did Kate do for BBC radio?? |

I don't think Kate did do any sessions for radio as far as I remember. Not any that were raodcast anyway.
Plenty of interviews of course but no specially recorded music in the studio. |

Did I not read/hear/dream that there was a version of The Kick Inside ( the song not the album ) that was done as part of a session for Radio One ? Though I am not sure at all - maybe my brain made this up ?
x ...Can someone please tell me what's going on or shall I just keep pressing buttons willy nilly ????

Well as it stands this evening (Tues 18th) the Radio Times website entry for the Gideon Coe show is still promising:
"Gideon delves even deeper into the archive to unearth two fantastically diverse offerings from Kate Bush and the Foo Fighters". www.radiotimes.com/Listin...llpage.jsp So who knows... |

I heard an advert for this on 6 Music, but assumed he'd be playing session tracks as normal, alongside a 'normal' Kate track.
Edited to say there are too many normals in this post. "I do maintain that if your hair is wrong, your entire life is wrong."

It was a "one off" BBC session of Wuthering Heights ca. 1978.
"We don't know who that was recorded for, maybe Bates, maybe Bern(smth), maybe Roscoe, definitely not John Peel though". No idea who any of those names that he listed. Seems BBC f*cked up if they don't even know where it's from. |

"Bates" is Simon Bates (he of the super schmaltzy 'our tune'). "Roscoe" is Emperor Rosko (Michael Pasternak), who was still producing independent shows for the likes of Radio 1 in 1978 (famed for his highly idiosyncratic 'rock dj' language, which prompted a newsreader to whom he handed over to remark drily "Here is the news from the BBC, in English"). "Bern..." is probably Paul Burnett (one half of the team that brought you 'Convoy GB').
I don't know about you but I'm frightened that I know that stuff. "The cook was a good cook, as cooks go; and as cooks go she went." 6,054+ |

Is there any way of saving this as an MP3 or similar? It's really good.

Was not aware of Kate doing any "sessions" as such for Radio 1 in 1978.
Possibly a re-recording for one of the TOTP performances??? Peter

Awesome performance!! Sounds like it was on TOTP though, rather than a radio session. Maybe Peter is right.
